The Bad Beginning is the first book of the series A Series of Unfortunate Events. In this series of books, author warns readers that these books are not one of those happy ending stories.

The Bad Beginning starts with three kids who's family died from fire and now had live with Count Olaf who wants to steal their inheritance. Throughout the book, he tries to kill them or harm them in some ways but they somehow get over those problems.

This way of writing is very interesting because most books usually has good ending or the storyline if it is fiction. However, the author of this book changed that mind completely and made readers think in a other way too.
