Clay, a high schooler in his senior year, received a package of mysterious tapes, recorded by Hannah Baker which suicide mysteriously. Hannah and Clay were good friends so Clay started to listen to the tapes. In each tape, there was a reason why did she killed herself.

There were thirteen tapes and each tape talked about different people that lead her death. And the tapes were only listened by the people she had talked about in the tapes. Hidden secrets had been discovered by everyone that listened to the tapes and each person that listened to the tapes chose to get over the drama and pretend to have nothing towards Hannah Baker. However,Clay was different. He tries hard to get evidence to show who killed Hannah.
